Laureate come back home to pay thank to ancestor    oil on canvas (78 x 110 cm)

Vietnam in the past, the people who had passed an examination was very honor. The painting describes (the return to the village of a man from the city where he has just passed an important examination. The king offer him clothes, hat, parasol, hammock, horse and an equipage…They was going to village (return home to pay thank to ancestor after achieving noble titles in the exam).  The doctor ride a white horse, a soldier was covering him with green parasol. a soldier who go first was using a loud speaker notify, next another was lifting a panel that record doctor name, and then an traditional orchestra with eight musicians, each a person was playing one of traditional Vietnam instruments (drum, trumpet, cymbal…), Near the doctor, the soldier was bringing a box containing the certificate of the doctor. Rearward, the doctor wife sits in the hammock. (She followed to help him while, he was taking part the examination in the city), near her, a woman was bringing an adornment box; finally, a man was bringing a black big box that contain goods of couple. All of them were progressing toward the village. Villager was waiting for them in front of village gate. Foremost, is the village elder, dignitary. On the right of the gate is a banyan and on the left is a mere with lotus flower. Peasants was catching the fish and gathering flower. That is very familiar scene in Vietnamese countryside
